Dear Community of North Kootenay Lake

2023 is the 11th anniversary of our small hospice society. Throughout that time, the Hospice Society of North Kootenay Lake has and continues to be comprised of caring and wonderful people coming together in the service of our beautiful community. Board Directors, Volunteers, part-time Employees, Members, Community Partners, Funders, Donors and Supporters (private and from local businesses who support our work) are all part of bringing hospice services to the community.

Hospice offers compassionate care and support to our clients, families, and our community, when most needed. We believe in having the best quality of life possible, wherever we are on life’s journey.

We are available by phone, email or in person for support at end of life and to anyone dealing with loss, bereavement, and grief. At Hospice, we walk with others on that journey. We often engage in community outreach, present information sessions and educational workshops to our community.

If you have ever thought about getting more involved with your community, please give us a call; Aside, from direct client services – we have many other volunteer options from helping stage events, to assistance in the office and with communications. Check our website or watch for information on upcoming events such as the annual Hike for Hospice, Grief Groups and Tree of Remembrance. There is a meaningful role for everyone, and we welcome all ages/backgrounds.

With adaption, HSNKL has continued to offer exciting and vibrant programming for the North Kootenay Lake Community throughout Covid, extreme weather, wildfire risk, natural disasters, and geo-political challenges. We are aware of how vulnerable we all are to this everchanging storm of events. Strong emotions and feelings of loss can be triggered by change, uncertainty, and turbulent times; particularly in those vulnerable or dealing with recent bereavement, or with end-of-life issues. Social distancing has precluded many of us from being able to mourn and grieve with family, friends, and community. We are here: please feel free to reach out to us.

Keep safe and well.

Respectfully,

The Board of Directors for HSNKL
